Rainwater tank systems have been widely adopted across the world to provide a safe local source of water in underdeveloped rural areas, a substitution for mains water for non potable end uses in water stressed urban areas, as well as providing flooding control in monsoonal climates such as Korea, or combined sewer systems such as Germany. The importance of these systems in cities has grown, as water managers seek to provide a range of decentralised solutions to supply constraints of current water supply systems, whilst reducing the impact of urban development on the natural environment, and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change. Rainwater tank systems are now often implemented under integrated urban water management (IUWM) and water sensitive urban design (WSUD)...
After all it was Australia Day and so it was fitting that on this day we would see a couple of Aussie Millions gold rings find new homes with the final day of the Opening Event and the one-day Event 2: $1,100 NLHE / PLO . However, in the Crown... That’s right, the first two events of the 2014 Aussie Millions were taken down by Italian poker players Mustapha Kanit and Lorenzo Sabato. Not only that, but the Opening Event champion Kanit and Event 2 champion Sabato are good friends, recently travelling together at the PCA and now here in Melbourne for the Aussie Millions. Kanit claimed $196,000 for his victory over a field of 1,302 players, while Sabato took home $34,200 for defeating 163 players. 2014 Aussie Millions - $1,100 Opening Event. There were originally 1,302 players who tried their hand at making Day 2 of the 2014 Aussie Millions Opening Event, but only 153 were able manage that feat. Over the three flights it was Italy’s Mustapha Kanit who bagged the most chips. He started Day 2 with 336,400 - more than enough for the overall chip lead. You can read all about how the Day 1 flights played out in the links below. Annovazzi tops Day 1a of Opening Event. Mustapha leads giant Day 1c flight. While Kanit may have started Day 2 with a monster stack, he still had his work cut out with plenty of notable players returning to the felt including Australians like Gary Benson, Leo Boxell, Michael Kanaan, Jonathan Karamalikis, Oliver Gill, Joe... It would be early on Day 2 that the money bubble would burst with the top 108 players making the money and a $2,500 min-cash. The action started off at a rapid-pace as a dozen players had been eliminated on Day 2 within the first 20 minutes of action. The levels moved from 40 minutes to 60 minutes, but that didn’t slow the players down. He has more than $4 million in live tournament results but didn’t add any to his resume in the Opening Event as he first got unlucky losing with Kx-Kx against an opponent’s Qx-Qx and then the rest of his chips when he was all-in with 7x-5x against... Play went hand-for-hand with 110 players remaining - two off the money. The player eliminated in an unfortunate 110 place was Jason Pritchard (pictured). Following Pritchard’s elimination, Octavian Voegele was all in from the small blind holding , but chopped the pot with his opponent who also held. Apparently a player on the table next to Voegele’s noticed that the Austrian was all in and so folded his big blind and left himself with less than a small blind behind. This player was all in on the very next hand holding and couldn’t catch up against. Just like that 108 players remained and were guaranteed $2,500 each. The eliminations in the money occurred quickly as George Cotaidis (107th), Tom Grigg (103rd), Trung Tran (102nd), Octavian Voegele (96th), Andrew Bassat (90th) and Joe Kuether (83rd) were all sent home with a min-cash or a little more. As the field marched towards a final table more and more players were eliminated with some bittersweet cash for their time including Dylan Honeyman (65 place. Benson sent all his chips to Lukas Byrns when he got his chips in holding Jx-Jx against Byrns’ Kx-Kx. Speaking of Byrns, he would end up playing a hand that would see him become the chip leader when just 21 players remained. It was a three-way all in preflop situation, with Antonus Kambouroglou the big stack holding and with Byrns all-in holding and Peter Aristidou all-in with. It was looking like Byrns was heading home and Aristidou was going to be a massive chip leader, but the board had other ideas and with that both Aristidou and Kambouroglou were left short stacked. Aristidou busted shortly thereafter in 21 in the $25,000 High Roller at the PCA for just under $500,000 and after a heads-up deal, adds $196,000 to his resume after winning the 2014 Aussie Millions Opening Event.
