Lindsay Anderson's If. is a daringly anarchic vision of British society, set in a boarding school in late-sixties England. Before Stanley Kubrick made his mischief iconic in A Clockwork Orange, Malcolm McDowell made a hell of an impression as the insouciant Mick Travis, who, along with his school chums, trumps authority at every turn, finally emerging as violent savior against the draconian games of one-upmanship played by both students and the powers that be. Mixing color and black and white as audaciously as it mixes fantasy and reality, If. remains one of cinema's most unforgettable rebel yells.

Malcolm McDowell launches campaign to fund George A. Romero's Walk of Fame star - EW.com

How can George A. Romero not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Without the late director, there would be no Creepshow , no Martin , no Dawn of the Dead , no Night of the Living Dead. And without that latter, zombie genre-creating film, there would be no Return of the Living Dead , no Shaun of the Dead , and no Walking Dead. In 2016, it was announced that the filmmaker would finally be getting a Walk of Fame star and today, a month after his passing, a campaign was launched on the Indiegogo platform Generosity to seek complete funding for what has sadly become a... The campaign is supported by Romero’s friend, legendary actor Malcolm McDowell ( A Clockwork Orange , Cat People ), who has filmed a video urging people to contribute. “George was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” explains McDowell in the clip. We really need your help in funding this, because it’s very expensive to do it, and he was such a fine, fine man, a beautiful man, great friend of mine, and also a great artist, and very deserving to be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — in fact,... With this campaign, we are trying to raise the final completion funds. You can learn more about the campaign at Generosity and you can watch the video with McDowell, above.

Malcolm has the distinct honor of being Steven's basement moment. Steve and Jen where over getting their autograph with Malcolm when the talk of a particular website and the latest cricket scores was brought up. Steve mentioned he had his laptop over at the NoVa Browncoats table and offered to bring it over so they could check the scores and the website. Steve danced through crowd, screaming like a school girl going to prom to grab his laptop. We at the table had no idea what he was doing, but Steve snatched his laptop and took off, dancing back through the crowd, with is laptop held high as quick as he could be so he wouldn't lose his place. He then sat there and gushed about how much of a fan he was of Time After Time the H.G. Well Time Machine meets Jack The Ripper flick from the late 1970's. We've all had our own basement moments, but I was glad to have been present for Steve's, just as I was for Mike's. Just because we all have our own basement moments doesn't mean I'm...
