Kyle Morris started getting interested in politics during the 2008 U. S. election between John McCain and Barack Obama. Eight years later, he has just founded his website, Conservative Savage , of which he is the editor-in-chief. Morris, a telecommunications major at the University of Alabama, hails from Heflin, a small Alabama town near the Georgia state line. He has a thick, thick country accent, slow, syrupy and calming, befitting someone who grew up deep in red state country in the Bible Belt. And he’s on a mission: to tell the truth — as he sees it. “My ultimate goal is to be a truth reporter, no matter what side it affects,” Morris says. We’re on a two-party system, and people care more about their political party than they do about America. They don’t focus on their ideas — they swing with their party. We chatted with Morris, who aspires to become a political commentator for a major news network, to talk about his website, Conservative Savage , getting millennials involved in politics and the causes he cares the most about. When did you first start getting interested in politics. I started getting involved first in the 2008 election with McCain and Obama, and I saw how things were turning. I noticed this divide, with a lot of people saying that they didn’t like Obama because he was an African American, and I always wondered why you would say something so ignorant because someone’s a different skin color than you may be. So I started... It was interesting to see the way these people had these ideas to support Donald Trump and the way they would word their sentences to support Donald Trump or to support Hillary Clinton. After primaries, when it came out that he was the Republican nominee and she was the Democratic nominee, it was just this huge world of divisiveness… And that’s when I really got interested. In January I started tweeting my thoughts and opinions, and it just took off from there. What is your mission behind Conservative Savage. The reason I decided to start Conservative Savage was the fact that today people have opinions, yet they don’t have a place to share them in a manner where they’re not often judged. You could be the nicest guy in the whole wide world and post a tweet, but someone’s not going to like what you say and attack you for it. So I told my friend, why don’t we start this website where people can write for us and give their opinions,... There are a lot of places where people do this, but they take the credit instead of giving writer credit. I want to give writer credit, because I want their opinions to be heard. I don’t want it to be, ‘This was on Conservative Savage,’ but ‘So and so wrote this today — have you read it. ’. I want to give voices to those who may not have that voice. What political issue matters the most to you. People focus on immigration a lot now, saying it costs so much money. In fact, we should be focused working on getting American citizens to work for us, and not so much for illegal immigrants costing us money. We can’t have a group of people sitting around complaining about illegal immigrants flooding in when they’re doing nothing to contribute. Issues like that, and what our taxpayer dollars are going to is what we should really be focused on. there are citizens, veterans, children, families out here that really need it. Focus on the citizens and then illegal immigration. Why do you think it’s so important for our generation to be involved in politics and in media consumption. If we don’t focus on politics we won’t have athletic events or concerts for people to go to, because we simply won’t be able to afford them. We have to focus on politics to have fun. If we don’t have a good political system in the U. S. we won’t have anything before too long. Where do you hope to see Conservative Savage go in the future. The ultimate goal is to become a place where people.
