Courage and Hope: The Stories of Ten Baptist Women Ministers is a collection of essays about Baptist women who have each served in the ministry for over thirty years. Among these women are pastors, church staff members, missionaries, mission organization leaders, and professors. Many of the stories were written by the women, and each story offers insight into its subject's calling, ministry experiences, obstacles, and the mentors and encouragers who supported her. The courage and commitment of these Baptist women ministers offers inspirations and hope to Baptists who affirm women in ministry.
We had a fun Labor Day Weekend. The original plan had been to go down and see Granny and Grandpa and their new remodeled house. But, they are still about two weeks away from being finished, and they are still living in an RV. So, we investigated getting a hotel room, and we found that we could get the 4 star Hyatt Regency in downtown Houston for CHEAPER than we could get... So, we started thinking about staying in Houston and doing some fun stuff in Houston, then going down to visit Granny and Grandpa. Let me tell you - I don't think of Houston as a fun weekend getaway. But, I tell you, we had a fun time. We took Cormac with us. We headed down Friday evening, and the best was seeing those kiddos when we walked into that hotel. The Hyatt is open all the way to the top with the rooms are around the edge, so standing down in the lobby you can look 30 stories up to the top of the building. Ella and Cormac were amazed. Once checked in, they had to go down and check out the pool on level 6. Not to swim, just to see it. But somehow they came back all wet. We then headed to meet Granny and Grandpa at Pearl Dynasty in Pearland for lunch before heading to Angleton to visit with them. Their house is coming along and is going to be really beautiful. They went ahead and had some walls torn down and did a little remodeling in the process. It is going to be great, and I think they are seeing the light at the end of this long tunnel. We hung around and visited and had dinner with them before heading back to Houston. The next day we ventured over the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Ella loved it. We saw butterflies hatching. Two high school sweethearts, our sweet baby girl Ella, our cute cats, Nimonee and Fur, and our dog Daisy, living in Austin, Texas. We love spending time together - playing in the backyard or a weekend away. Our most favorite adventure by far is the daily amazement that comes with watching Ella blossom. I love to scrapbook, Chad loves to take pictures, and Ella is the cutest little photo subject, so we really are the perfect match of a family.
