A pair of siblings hailing from Maryland, the Brothers Osborne stand at the crossroads of mid-2010s Nashville on their 2016 debut Pawn Shop. One looks a bit like Sam Hunt and one looks a little like Chris Stapleton, so it's only fitting that Pawn Shop plays like a hybrid of Montevallo and Traveller, containing the modern rhythmic snap of the former and the classicist structure of the latter. In the hands of producer Jay Joyce - best known for helming hits for Eric Church and Little Big Town, a rsum that suggests how this record balances outlaw swagger and pop smarts - the Brothers Osborne can sometimes seem like the aural equivalent of reclaimed wood furniture: a spiffy re-creation of the past that's meant to appeal to modern tastes. Occasionally, this provides a little bit of a disorienting cultural disconnect - there's a swagger that doesn't jibe with the weathered twang, or maybe it's vice-versa - but there's also a kinetic kick to their time warp because the Brothers Osborne are cannily perched at the precipice separating the past from the present, suggesting how nothing fades away in the digital age and nothing is new. Pawn Shop never dwells on such contradictions. It rolls along, easing from funky little workouts to immaculate ballads, the duo benefitting from a heightened sense of craft a

BA - Bristol Street Directory 1871
Mathews' Bristol Street Directory 1871 1871 Backfields, St. Paul’s The 1828 plan of Bristol, shows the circular stables at Back Fields. The stables were the home of the first riding school in Bristol opened by R.C.Carter in 1761. This school consisted of circular stables around an open area or ampitheatre which is likely to have been used for training riders for Astley's 'circus'. It was also used for the public performance of equestrian tricks and is widely accepted as the originator of the modern circus. In 1834 the circular stables had become Bristol's first circus and continued in use until being destroyed by fire in 1895. Archaeologists working on the site have established that structural remains of the stables survive below ground and these have been preserved beneath the new development on the site. G. Jon Hammond with the great Clark Terry
Jon Hammond with the great Clark Terry - Clark told me, Hammond...don't believe what they tell you about 'The Golden Years' - The Golden Years Suck! Clark Terry (born December 14, 1920) is an American swing and bop trumpeter, a pioneer of the flugelhorn in jazz, educator, NEA Jazz Masters inductee, and recipient of the 2010 Grammy Lifetime Achieve Beyondment Award. Only four other trumpet players in history have ever received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award: Louis Armstrong (Clark's old mentor), Miles Davis (whom Clark mentored), Dizzy Gillespie (who often described Clark as the greatest jazz trumpet player on earth) and Benny Carter. Clark Terry is one of the most prolific jazz musicians in history, having appeared on 905 known recording sessions, which makes him the most recorded trumpet player of all time. In comparison, Louis Armstrong performed on 620 sessions, Harry "Sweets" Edison on 563, and Dizzy Gillespie on 501. He has...
