In This Life
Journal of the Assembly of the State of New York
Baseball America's Prospect Handbook is, quite simply, the only source you need to find out about the future stars of baseball. Baseball America made its name on finding the best players as amateurs and following them through the minors on the way to the big leagues, and the Prospect Handbook is the compendium that brings it all together. You'll get the Top 30 Prospects for all 30 major league teams, with comprehensive scouting reports on every player. You'll also get a wealth of other information about each team, to give you an idea of where the organization has been and where it's going. It's no accident that you'll find the Prospect Handbook on the desk of every general manager in baseball. Join them in getting the information edge!
Includes Special sessions.
First of all — sorry about no WMQ last week. So…BDFL Bowl XII. Eric Adamson will get his second chance to become just the sixth different BDFL Bowl winner in league history and add his name to the pantheon of mostly-unasterisked-legends up on the Wednesday Morning Quarterback masthead. MAKE ANDREW FUCK AGAIN will battle me , as I make my third straight BDFL Bowl appearance and seventh in twelve years. Look, I won’t speak for anyone else, but even I am rooting against me. I certainly would like to win, and I will give it 100%, but c’mon…few people in this league put in more time and effort than Adamson. Truthfully, I was really pulling for Gehrke — his pure joy and excitement at winning the championship would have been like a child on Christmas morning. He would have made his Nashville Rowing kids row him up and down the river (that I’m assuming Nashville has) in a victory parade. But Adamson is cool, too. Now, all that being said…I think Benevolent Dictator For Life will win. In a matchup of one team that most recently overperformed against one that just underpeformed, I’d rather have the underperformer. MAKE ANDREW FUCK AGAIN has been propelled in the playoffs by two straight ~30 point performances by Bilal Powell (Week 14) and Brandin Cooks (Week 15). It’s hard to count on that happening three weeks in a row. But on the flip side, it’s kind of impressive how Eric Adamson has used sheer will (along with a moderate amount of luck, according to his own rankings) to carry this team into the championship. If you had said at the beginning of the season that one of the BDFL Bowl teams would be starting Bilal Powell, Jordan Howard, Tyler Gabriel, and Derrick Henry…that would have been pretty unbelievable. In fact, at the time of publication, look at where MAKE ANDREW MAKE LOVE AGAIN’s starters were drafted:. Tom Brady: Pick 57. Bilal Powell: Pick 137. Jordan Howard: UDFA. Brandin Cooks: Pick 33. Tyler Gabriel: UDFA. Delanie Walker: Pick 64. Derrick Henry: Pick 105. Matt Bryant: UDFA. New York Giants: UDFA. Compare that to the BDFL:. Andrew Luck: Pick 46. Doug Martin: Pick 27. Le’Veon Bell: Pick 22. Julian Edelman: Pick 51. Odell Beckham, Jr. : Pick 3. Hunter Henry: UDFA. Tevin Coleman: Pick 145. Justin Tucker: Pick 142. San Diego Chargers: UDFA. Eric’s team really reminds me of my championship team from last year, when literally no one on my BDFL Bowl starting roster was someone that I actually drafted myself. Every player I started was someone I picked up off waivers after they had been cast off from another team. I don’t want to throw around the term “team of destiny” lightly — we have seen the damage that can be done when someone whips that out with impunity — but the way MAKE ANDREW FORNICATE AGAIN has had one player step up in each round of the playoffs... If we hear an orchestral swell during the 4pm games when Brandin Cooks finishes up Adamson’s BDFL Bowl performance, then we will know what’s up. Still, I think Benevolent Dictator For Life will pull it out. For all the Slack talk about how great I am at fantasy football (which has to be the single greatest use of any social media platform ever, I hope that conversation lasts forever), I also haven’t had an opponent put up more than 89 points since... Wednesday Morning Quarterback End of Season Awards You know, I thought about just skipping these this year. the end of season awards are entirely ceremonial and I have better things to be preparing for right now. Drafted by: Cathy Vu , FFF (Round 1, Pick 4). Running Back 1: David Johnson , Arizona Cardinals. Drafted by: Kevin Baum , Make Kevin 3rd Place Again (Round 1, Pick 7). Running Back 2: Ezekiel Elliott , Dallas Cowboys. Drafted by: Dave Creighton , The Deplorables (Round 1, Pick 10). Wide Receiver 1: Antonio Brown , Pittsburgh Steelers. Drafted by: Garrett Keefe , Ware and Tear (Round 1, Pick 1). Wide.
