SpongeBob SquarePants Actor Rodger Bumpass Arrested for DUI
Barnacles indeed. Rodger Bumpass, the man who voices SpongeBob SquarePants' Squidward, was arrested on Friday, January 15, in Burbank, California. The actor was reportedly driving under the influence.
Spongebob Squarepants revolves around the denizens of Bikini Bottom and a sweet square yellow sponge with the tongue twister name of SpongeBob SquarePants, who lives in a giant pineapple with his cookie-loving pet snail Gary. His two best friends and comrades-in-misadventures, are Patrick, a gullible starfish and a temperamental, thrill-seeking squirrel named Sandy Cheeks who lives in an underwater dome complete with a large Texas tree house and picnic area. SpongeBob is the "best fry cook ever" at the Krusty Krab, where he has to deal with his miserly boss Mr. Krabs and the grumpy cashier Squidward Tentacles. SpongeBob is always landing himself (and his friends!) in hot soup despite the best of intentions. His enthusiasm and optimism are endearing and infectious, making him one of the best-loved characters by children and adults alike.

"Interesting stories from Arkansas history, illustrated with cartoons"--
In 1976 the creators of National Lampoon, America's most popular humor magazine, decided to make a movie. It would be set on a college campus in the 1960s, loosely based on the experiences of Lampoon writers Chris Miller and Harold Ramis and Lampoon editor Doug Kenney. They named it Animal House, in honor of Miller's fraternity at Dartmouth, where the members had been nicknamed after animals. Miller, Ramis, and Kenney wrote a film treatment that was rejected and ridiculed by Hollywood studios—until at last Universal Pictures agreed to produce the film, with a budget of $3 million. A cast was assembled, made up almost completely of unknowns. Stephen Furst, who played Flounder, had been delivering pizzas. Kevin Bacon was a waiter in Manhattan when he was hired to play Chip. Rodger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward Tentacles on SpongeBob SquarePants, will not lose his job following his DUI arrest earlier this month. The cartoon show's bosses have reassured the 64-year-old actor he is not going to be sacked for the January 15 incident, TMZ reported Monday. Police noticed a blue PT Cruiser stopped in the middle of the road just before 11 p. m. Friday January 15 with a man leaning against it and when they approached him, he started walking away unsteadily and almost fell. The star of the children's cartoon seemed to be very upfront as he reportedly confessed to driving just before being seen by police, according to the source for the gossip site, and was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. Bumpass has voiced Squidward - a frenemy of SpongeBob - since the show debuted in May 1999. He has also worked on two films spun-off from the show including 2004's The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water... The Arkansas-native began voice work on highly-popular animated series Alvin & The Chipmunks performing additional voices in 1984. His vocal talents are also used in the animated feature films Monsters, Inc.
