The Schramms are named for their founder, guitarist/singer/songwriter Dave Schramm, who was a member of Yo La Tengo and played with Chris Stamey, Kate Jacobs, Soul Asylum and Freedy Johnston. Their fifth album, ONE HUNDRED QUESTIONS maintains the high standard of their previous efforts: heartfelt, earthy roots-rock that keeps an introspective, personal focus while avoiding painful earnestness or blandness. "Mary Come Lately," and the spooky ruminative ballad "I'll Believe," have a homey, loping sound that wouldn't be out place on early albums by the Band or Neil Young, yet there's also subtle use of distortion and noise that recalls Sonic Youth (in their quieter moments) and DJ Spooky. "Torn In Two" and "Simple Arithmetic" are rough-hewn, but not sloppy, mid-tempo rockers with folk and country undertones that find the band in Son Volt, early Jayhawks, and (yes, again) the Band territory. Schramm has a stinging, gently smoldering, emotional guitar sound, and keyboard player Andrew Harris

Digital Archaeology

The Definitive, Up-to-Date Guide to Digital Forensics The rapid proliferation of cyber crime is increasing the demand for digital forensics experts in both law enforcement and in the private sector. In Digital Archaeology, expert practitioner Michael Graves has written the most thorough, realistic, and up-to-date guide to the principles and techniques of modern digital forensics. Graves begins by providing a solid understanding of the legal underpinnings of and critical laws affecting computer forensics, including key principles of evidence and case law. Next, he explains how to systematically and thoroughly investigate computer systems to unearth crimes or other misbehavior, and back it up with evidence that will stand up in court. Drawing on the analogy of archaeological research,...

Adventures in Gold Country

Growing up in the rugged gold mining country of Northern Ontario in the 1950's, Billy Tyler learns the harsh realities of life, and the strong values necessary to survive and succeed in an environment of wilderness beauty, lawlessness and greed. Billy's courageous attempt to rescue the passengers of a downed aircraft on a frozen northern lake, teaches him that true courage knows no boundaries. The fight for survival against a devastating flood, characterizes for Billy, the strength and perseverance of his frontier neighbors; many of them gold miners accustomed to danger. An eerie encounter with a young drowning victim brings an awareness of the reality of life and death. A summer job with the Circus leads to an association with some unsavory characters. A brutal attack on Caitlin, a...

Queens - Flushing - Shea Stadium: Championship Banners
Just in fair play past the outfield fence in right field at Shea Stadium, the New York Mets proudly display their championship banners. The 1969 Mets, deep in pitching talent with Tom Seaver (25-7, 2.21), Jerry Koosman (17-9, 2.58) and a young Nolan Ryan (6-3, 3.67) spearheading the staff, got off to a slow start. By August 14, they were in third place, 9.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs. Down the stretch, fortunes shifted and the Gil Hodges-led Mets won 38 of their last 49 games to finish a full 8 games ahead of the Cubs. The "Amazin' Mets" or "Miracle Mets", as they had come to be known, went on to sweep Hank Aaron's Atlanta Braves in the first NLCS. Led by Cleon Jones and Tommie Agee, the underdogs were given little chance against the powerful Baltimore Orioles, backed by Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson and Jim Palmer, the Mets went on to win the World Series in 5 games. Yogi Berra's 1973 Mets found themselves in last place with a 61-71 record at the end...
Queens - Flushing: Shea Stadium - 1986 World Series Game 6 Banner
"So the winning run is at second base, with two outs, three and two to Mookie Wilson. A little roller up along first... behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight... and the Mets win it!" - Vin Scully After Dave Henderson's homer in the bottom of the 10th put the Boston Red Sox three outs from a Game 6 win and the 1986 World Championship, Calvin Schiraldi quickly set down Wally Backman and Keith Hernandez to start the top of the inning. Then, Gary Carter singled to left. And then pinch hitter Kevin Mitchell singled to center. And then after falling behind 0-2, Ray Knight singled to center, making the score 5-4 with the tying run at third. Bob Stanley was summoned to face Mookie Wilson, who worked the count to 2-1 before fouling off three straight pitches. The seventh pitch sailed towards Mookie's knees and got away from Rich Gedman, allowing the tying run to score and the go ahead run to advance to second. After fouling off two more pitches, Mookie...
Queens - Flushing: Shea Stadium - Jesse Orosco 1986 Banner
The 1986 Mets, celebrating their 25th season , coasted to a 108-54 record behind Darryl Strawbery, Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter and Dwight Gooden. In the NLCS, the Mets took a 2-games-to-2 lead with a come-from-behind walk-off home run by Lenny Dykstra in Game 3. In Game 6, the Mets turned a 3-0 ninth-inning deficit into a 16-inning marathon victory to clinch the pennant. In the World Series against the Boston Red Sox, the Mets faced elimination leading into Game 6. The Red Sox scored two runs in the tenth inning and twice came within one strike of winning their first World Series since 1918. But the Mets rallied, with two outs and down two runs, banged out three consecutive singles. Mookie Wilson ran the count to 2-1, then fouled off 3 consecutive pitches. With the count 2-2,pitcher Bob Stanley threw one down in the dirt and through the legs of catcher Rich Gedman for a wild pitch. Pinch hitter Kevin Mitchell scored from third base, tying the game. Facing a full count, Wilson...
