Karina Paavola struck out 12 of the 16 batters she faced in the pitching circle, and ended the game via the mercy rule with a two-run double down the right-field line as Kelso whipped Battle Ground 10-0 in Greater St. Helens 4A League fastpitch action Friday at Lassie Beach.

Paavola pitched a one-hitter and finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Brittany Sanders also had a huge game, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a two-run shot, and five RBIs. She also drove in two runs with a single and another with a sacrifice fly.

Kelso (10-1, 4-0 league) took control with a four-run fourth inning. Mackenzie Martin also was an offensive stalwart, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

STEVENSON — Taviah' Jenkins continued her hot hitting from the leadoff spot for Castle Rock, finishing 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the Rockets' 11-0, five-inning victory over Stevenson on Friday.

Jenkins also drove in a run. Maddi Seidl had a hit, scored twice and an RBI, and Regan Smith had a hit and two RBIs.
