Admirals fall, head home 2 points out of playoff race The Virginian-Pilot
HERSHEY, Pa.
Norfolk's Ryan Craig and Mitch Fadden scored goals within a minute of each other late in the third period Sunday, but Hershey held on for a 3-2 victory over the Admirals at Giant Center.
The Admirals, who close out the regular season with home games this week against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday and against Hershey on Friday and Saturday, are two points behind Bridgeport for the East Division's final playoff spot.
The Bears took the lead 11 minutes into the game. Mathieu Perrault gathered a loose puck and tapped it past Norfolk goalie Dustin Tokarski.
Cody Eakin doubled the Bears lead in the middle of the second period, and the AHL's leading goal scorer, Alexandre Giroux, put the Bears up 3-0 less than five minutes into the final period.
Norfolk began its comeback less than three minutes later beginning with captain Ryan Craig's team-leading 23rd goal of the season.
The Admirals made it 3-2 less than a minute later. Matt Fornataro deflected a point shot on goal that ricocheted off Hershey goalie Braden Holtby into the slot. Justin Keller got the rebound and sent another shot that bounced off Holtby. Mitch Fadden then found a second rebound and sent it past Holtby at 8:16 for his seventh goal of the season.
