Edward Stevens said.
But on Monday, the Oneida County Law Enforcement Coalition honored four local police officers for doing something that inspires many officers to join the police force: helping people.
“Most police officers realize it’s their duty to act, and they do act,” said Stevens, who was chosen as guest speaker for the event at Utica College’s Economic Crime and Justice Studies Auditorium. “You joined the police department because you cared for other people,” he said.
