Five months after a car smashed into him, severing his leg and crushing his pelvis, the end of the anguish has just started for Andrew Scott Hall.
On Tuesday, Pinellas deputies arrested Joshua Dean West, 24, in ally with the April 20 crash in Safety Harbor.
"I'm happy that he's behind bars - that's where he needs to be, absolutely not behind the wheel of a car," Hall said from his hospital room Tuesday.
Deputies say West was driving exhilarated in his Honda on Main Street when he struck Hall, who was walking, and then continued east, hitting two utility poles before stopping. West tried to run away but was captured a congest away by a sheriff's dog, deputies said.
Hall, 20, has been at Bayfront Medical Center since the boom, enduring several surgeries, including a knee reconstruction. His elbow is still bent at a 90-highly angle.
"I'm on the track to walking again," Hall said. "It's going be a long process and it's prospering to take hard work."
