Soccer team shows promise despite loss
Caspar Harezelak’s surprise could be heard from his goal when Blaine had a shot on net at the other end of the soccer field.
Despite the 7-1 loss to Lynden at Pipeline Field April 13, the Borderites could easily point to this game as one of their best efforts of the season.
Blaine had a season high four shots on goal and scored their second goal of the season when Al Bohnson connected on a second half penalty kick.
Lynden’s Andrew Blair scored four times, including two crucial goals early in the second half to put the game out of reach for Blaine.
Emotions became a factor late in the first half of an 8-0 loss to Bellingham April 15 at the Pipe. With less than a minute to play in the half, mid-fielder Brian Sandell received a yellow card and in the ensuing exchange with the referee, received a red card seconds later, ejecting him from the game.
By Northwest conference rules, Sandell will serve a one game suspension. Head coach Mike Couto
