Groups try to help schools Muskogee Daily Phoenix

School officials across the Muskogee area say the state budget crunch makes them rely more this year than past years on such support sources as parent-teacher groups, education foundations and booster clubs. The state could cut allocations to schools by 5 percent this year and as much as 10 percent in school year 2011, Muskogee School Superintendent Mike Garde has said. “Without a doubt, we’ll be leaning on our support groups more than ever,” Fort Gibson School Superintendent Derald Glover said. “I don’t think there is any school in the state that won’t be relying on PTOs, support groups or boosters they this year. For us, they always provide what’s needed.” She said teachers have not sought PTO help for basic classroom needs. Instead, the PTO raises money for extra items such as new equipment for the library. This year, the organization bought board games for classes to play when recess must move indoors because of rain or wintry weather, she said. The PTO pays for a subscription to the Weekly Reader for one classroom.

I am very ill, and my form an opinion has been wandering to baby names. I am only 17, so children are several years off, but I am engaged to be married in 2011.
